For blues acts considering entering the 2018 International Blues Challenge (IBC) in Memphis, it is important to be aware that the Blues Foundation has modified a few of the rules. The changes noted in the official Blues Foundation document governing the preliminary competitions HAVE BEEN MODIFIED since the document was issued. Please note the following update before reading the rules document:
"The underlying intent is to prevent both acts and affiliates from shopping around; however, feedback has shown that situations exist that make it overly complicated to impose the geographic restrictions as recently issued. Therefore, the Foundation is removing the requirement to enter the home challenge first and allowing acts to enter challenges within the 250 mile radius provided the affiliates involved are in agreement."
Remember, local societies are bound by these rules in order to meet their affiliation requirements and gain permission to send acts to the annual IBC. Please read the following document (noting the above update) and feel free to contact either the Blues Foundation or your local affiliate.
